Convert any pump from "hot running" oil bath lubrication to a much cooler, longer lasting oil mist lubrication. And, it's all self contained within the pump.
Why The TurboMister Was Developed: The Environamics TurboMisterTM Oil Mist Lubrication System was developed to bring the proven advantages of oil mist lubrication to the general range of chemical process pumps, slurry pumps, and other similar rotating equipment. Up to now, only high end, critical duty rotating equipment could "afford" to employ oil mist lubrication technology. And, these systems were primarily utilized in the petroleum refining industry. Oil mist lubrication systems typically consisted of a centralized oil mist generator and a compressed air system to transport the atomized oil to the rotating equipment bearings. Although this is arguably the absolute best way to lubricate antifriction bearings, the cost of implementing and maintaining such a system is out of the reach of most other industrial settings (i.e. chemical plants, paper mills, food processing plants, pharmaceutical operations, etc. etc.). Environamics has developed a simple, inexpensive product to generate an "oil mist" and obtain the advantages of the sophisticated oil mist systems. This system can be applied to ANSI and non-ANSI pumps, ISO and DIN pumps, slurry pumps, paper stock pumps, etc. The system is completely self contained within the pump bearing frame. It requires no external support systems to transport the oil mist or to collect the "used" oil mist. Used mist is not vented to atmosphere and therefore does not create any health and worker safety issues that have recently been cited by OSHA with compressed air oil mist systems. The system can be applied to any newly manufactured pump or retrofitted to any existing pump without modifying the basic pump. A simple "one kit fits all" covers pumps with shafts up to approximately 6" diameter. Why Is This Technology Needed: Environamics has spent over five years developing, testing,
proving, and now manufacturing the TurboMister oil mist lubrication system.
The technology stems from the need to further increase MTBF (Mean Time
Between Failure) for horizontal, oil lubricated pumps. Much has been done
during recent years to identify "weak link" areas in centrifugal
pumps and other rotating equipment, and to either improve the basic design
of the equipment at the manufacturers' level, or to modify the installation,
operating and maintenance programs at the plant level. The Environamics TurboMister is a revolutionary device
that mechanically generates an oil mist completely internally within the
bearing frame of the pump, or other rotating equipment. No external connections
are needed. No vents and breathers are needed. In fact, the frame can
now be completely sealed from contact with the outside environment. The TurboMister system includes an oil reservoir, containing
approximately 12 ounces, or more than 1/2 a quart of additional reserve
oil capacity. The rotational action of the TurboMister continuously "pumps"
a small amount of oil out to the external reservoir where it gains additional
cooling. The oil settles and passes through an internal filter which removes
any contaminants that may be carried by the oil. Through the settling
action, any moisture that may have accumulated in the oil condenses and
is collected at the bottom of the reservoir and not allowed to reenter
the bearing frame. There are several benefits to installing the Environamics TurboMister. The bearings will run considerably cooler allowing them to last longer. The oil itself, whether synthetic or hydrocarbon oil will run cooler and therefore last much longer before oxidizing, carbonizing and needing replacement. You can easily check the condition of the oil by removing the cover to the reservoir. The oil will be continuously cleaned as it passes through the filter. Therefore, contaminants that can shorten bearing life are continuously removed. Any moisture that may be contained in the oil will settle in the external reservoir where it can be drained off. The TurboMisterTM is quite simple to install, even on an existing pump. (1) The rotating oil mist generator is furnished with a split collar so that it can be mounted to an existing shaft without removing the existing bearings. The collar is adjustable to fit a wide range of shaft diameters with one standard kit. The vane diameter is adjustable to suit virtually any bearing style or size. (2) Remove the existing Sight Glass or Constant Level Oiler from the side of the bearing frame. The reservoir that is furnished with the TurboMister kit simply installs into this same port on the side of the bearing frame. The reservoir automatically adjusts the oil level downward so that the bearings are no longer flooded and not plowing through the oil. (3) Connect the return line from the external reservoir to the oil drain port on the bottom of the bearing frame to complete the circuit. (4) The TurboMisterTM does the rest.
